Having worked with Tarmac on a successful plant launch at Radlett Quarry in 2015, Aventeq were asked to oversee another important event – this time in Buxton, at Tunstead Quarry.
The combined operation at Tunstead is one of the largest in the UK, extracting between 5 and 6 million tonnes of limestone per annum. It provides a consistent supply of high purity industrial limestone for use within the chemical and other industries.
Tunstead is the largest supplier of lime and lime-based products in the UK and is of national strategic importance. Overall, the operational area is over 340 hectares.
When Tarmac needed to unveil a new cement mixing plant to it’s valued clients in September, they called the team at Aventeq - the Solihull based AV Production, Staging, and Hire company.
Following a number of successful projects together, Tarmac’s brief for Tunstead included an off-site reception marquee, a main event marquee, technical equipment and team, walkways, and toilet facilities – along with and transport between the two marquees.
Aventeq, an AV Award finalist, has recently gained ISO 9001:2015 status as part of their commitment to providing an exemplary event solution for companies large and small.
As per the specification, launch guests would park up and register at the reception marquee before being transported to the main marquee. The brief also required these two marquees to have a high standard of furnishing and be governed by the same regulations.
During the course of the event, guests would be given coffee and refreshments before an escorted tour of the existing facilities and the new cement plant. Following a catered lunch the day would close with speeches and transport back to the reception area. Health and Safety was of paramount importance during the launch so Aventeq were entrusted to follow a lofty set of stringent guidelines.
After surveying the area, Aventeq designed a hard sided marquee to fit a concrete base (provided by an existing car park that was already secured), allowing a double aspect view from the marquee using cleverly placed glass walls.
A room to the rear of the structure allowed for storage, a preparation area, catering, and a high quality toilet trailer. The area was tidied and a barrier was built for aesthetic purposes.
Aventeq supplied and built a small stage with custom printed backdrop, along with a PA system. Aventeq also installed all seating and furniture for the marquee, and managed power in multiple locations from a single hard-wired mains source.
Contractors were required to wear the appropriate protective clothing and were officially inducted before work could commence. All power related equipment needed to carry proper certification and be up to date on the latest PAT testing guidelines. Equipment was even taken apart and re-tested on site prior to doors opening. Post event, the whole site was then returned to its original state.
Tarmac reported that during the course of the three-day event, installation, and de-rig, Aventeq followed all guidelines to the letter without any issues or warnings. This had previously been unheard of for such a project.
Aventeq got great feedback on its handling and management of the event, right down to the correct completion of all-important paperwork. The exacting standards shown by Aventeq were second to none. The launch was a great success, and a positive talking point for all involved.
